Originally from England, Jill Carver moved to Texas in 2002. Following a twelve-year career as a curatorial research assistant at the National Portrait Gallery in London, she now paints full-time. Well known for her renderings of the Texas Hill Country rivers, the Davis Mountains, and of the Big Bend, she spends a large proportion of her time painting on location. Painting trips to Colorado, Wyoming and Utah have further extended her knowledge of the Western landscape. Her paintings have immediate visual impact. The canvases read well from a distance; then close up the image dissolves into a series of brushstrokes clearly and confidently rendered.
