"I'm always looking for objects," says Lampl, "When I'm ready to paint I never say to myself, 'I'm going to do a flower painting today,' because my motivation is based on my engagement with an object. Once that occurs, then I try to compose around it."

If there is any paradox in Lampl's work it is the fact that her paintings are simultaneously bold and understated.
Lampl is a native of Oklahoma, but has made Taos her home.
