Jason grew up riding and drawing horses on a small farm in southeastern Idaho. His love of and familiarity with his subject is evident in every brush stroke of his works. He has become a master at capturing the light and shadow of movement in his paintings. He continually strives to improve his understanding of his subject and his ability to translate it into striking depictions of the everyday contemporary cowboy at work.

Jason has completed undergraduate and masters degrees in fine art from Utah State University and has received much recognition for his work. He has won the Gold Medal in the prestigious Arts for the Parks Competition as well as the Founder’s Favorite Award. He has been invited to show at several influential shows including the Masters of the American West Exhibition and Sale at the Autry National Center and the Prix de West Show at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Museum. In 2008 Jason won the Spirit of the West award at the Masters of the American West Exhibition. This is given in recognition of the most outstanding work in the cowboy subject matter.
