Gene has been whittling wood for more than 25 years and has championed the rancher, the hunter, the cowboy, the politician, and the poker player in an honest but humorous way. Gene produces limited edition bronzes which are cast from the original wood carving and then hand painted. His carvings have been displayed in the LBJ Library and Museum in Austin, the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and the National Portrait Gallery.
